Site Suggestions Wanted

Please post your suggestions for improving this site to this thread!

Here are some of the things that I am considering. This is a running list that will be updated often.

( Updated - 6/29/2007)

• Bring back the spam room & entertainment room. ( Done)
  
• Clean up the site navigation ( A work in progress)
  
• Change the home page layout! ( Send me your ideas)
  
• Post more articles, product reviews, etc ( If you want to contribute contact me)
  
• Banner exchanges with other PB related sites. This will bring in new blood!
  
• Better Video Section - ( I fixed the forum Video Bar for now - it had a few bugs. I am also looking at a YouTube clone - aka clip-share. The problem is this would require more expensive hosting.
  
• New Photo gallery - is it just me or does the old gallery suck?
  
• New Arcade - I am looking at ripping it out and replacing it with a whole new package.
  
• Move the points system - does not make sense to call it a "Store"
  
• Reduce the flaming, cursing, spam, etc ( may tolerate it in the spam section - not sure yet)
  
• Bring back the giveaways - sponsors need to step up!
  
• Add Field reviews - location, description, hours of operation, price, etc,etc,etc
  
• Shoutbox ( Broken - I will work on fixing it or replacing it.)
  
• Members only forum Area - guest will have to register and post XX times before being allowed into this section.
  
• Bring back the Breadcrumb Trail Feature ( Working on this now)
  
• User selectable skins, templates, etc. ( Soon)
  
  Auto promote users to new levels - silver , Gold, Diamond, based on number of posts.
  
  Bring back the goldmember section?
  
  Karma, you can plus someones Karma, or minus it. If someone flames you, take a karma point away from them.
  
  Add a VIP section that requires XXXX posts to enter

Should be easy to let users select their own site template...I will look into it.

More active mod/users - yep - that is high on the list. This site gets a ton of lurkers who need to be converted into active members.

12 members on now(one that posts, me) and 365 guests, thats a problem. if we had out current members post some more it guess it might entice people to join and post them selfs. one reason i think no one joins is because everyone flames everyone else lately(me too) and i guess it kinda scares people off so thats why i suggested more mods, just to kind of help control that

I'm an active mod. But it's hard to contribute when I'll make a thread (or someone else) and it takes 5 days for someone to reply.

I think we need something like spam room back, idk though. I also think we need more advertising on other sites? We need more active users, that's the only thing we can do right now to make this site work.

seriously what will spam room do, theres no difference between that and general, why would that make people say " oh ****, spam room, im gona post here alot" and even if they do, thats only one section. we need massive postingz

I am getting quite a few requests to bring back the spam room. On the positive side it may be a good place for the off topic threads.

• Clean up the site navigation
• Change the home page layout! ( Send me your ideas)
• Post more articles, product reviews, etc ( If you want to contribute contact me)
• Add new moderators ( pm me if interested)
• Banner exchanges with other PB related sites. This will bring in new blood!
• Better Videos & Photo areas
• Move the points system - does not make sense to call it a "Store"
• Reduce the flaming, cursing, spam, etc ( may tollerate it in the spam section - not sure yet)
• Bring back the giveways - sponsors need to step up!
• Field reviews - location, description, hours of operation, price, etc,etc,etc
• Members only forum - guest will have to register and post XX times before being allowed into this section.

Try to get some more members in here and put back the spam room..... it might actually bring some members back and hopefully me and blue PM'd each other and I might become a mod. =) Cant think of anything because I just woke up

ok well, i registered on pbnation today for the sole reason of saying 4 words, (not about paintball)

is there anyway we could like perseaude people to join kinda like this?, bringing back spam room i thnk would help, but make it more like nation's small talk (have smaller sections for sports, music, hell have someone make a sex guide)

The site has improved tenfold now that I have returned. I desperately want/need the breadcrumb trail system back. Why Dave got rid of that just boggles my mind.

Another thing is like,

Even if we get new/more members, they'll come here and be like, wow this place is boring, and leave.

WE need to start getting this place going, the people that come here and are posting in this thread, NEED to get this place active again, so when a new member comes, they'll see that everyone is active and they'll stay/contribute.

Start getting active, and making threads/things to keep people posting. It's not that hard.

We need to make threads about other things besides paintball. The only poblem with that suggestion is that there arent enough active members on here. We need more interesting threads and topics to talk about.

I go on Pbnation everyday just to go into the Old school small talk because there are many smart interesting people that share their knowledge.

Quick update - I am looking at changing out the way videos are posted to this site.

Before I make any changes I wanted to get some feedback.

The package I am looking at is ClipShare - Its a youtube clone. You can check it out at www.clipshare.com

Here is the problem.....In order to host the videos directly on this site we will need to upgrade the servers once again. This costs more $$ per month and requires alot of work to move the site.

The alternative is to improve the existing Vbulletin video post section.


FYI - In case you are not aware when you post a new message you can insert Google or YouTube in you post by clicking the google or youtube icons.

This seems to work only for new posts...I am not sure yet why the icons dont' show up for replies.

maybe making a small clothing line would be nice. IE maybe some tee shirts..or some of those cheep rubber bracelets thats say "Pbvids.com" on them or something

some way to get more people to join and stay active. we just need to get pbvids out there. i like the t-shirt idea
