This review is on a Bob Long Empire 06 Intimidator.
This is a terrific gun. The maintenance is very simple. After every 2 cases or so, you just unscrew the ram cap and the ram falls out. You put some lube on it, and then you’re good to go. After every 10,000-20,000 shots you should lube the regulator and LPR. The gun is very fast and accurate. I upgraded mine with an Advantage board before I shot the stock board. However, I know from a friend’s gun that the stock board is easy to use and also fast. There are so many upgrades available for Intimidators currently, and more coming out all the time. The air efficiency is also very good. I have a Hardshell bolt and Custom Products regulator for it and I can shoot a hopper and 6 pods when I fill my 68/4500 tank to about 4000psi. The accuracy is also terrific. From 200 feet away, I shot 50 balls at a bunker and they all landed within 5 inches of each other, meaning the farthest apart they were was 5 inches or closer). I use an 18 inch Ultralite barrel. The stock barrel is decent, but I recommend an upgrade. The lightness of this gun is a major plus. If you are a front player or you like to play snake or do dives, this gun is definitely for you. I have a halo and a 68/4500 tank and my setup is still extremely light. I can run and dive and jump without any problems. Also, its great if you are a back player because you may need to shoot for a long time without moving, and this gun allows you to do that because your arms will not tire out quickly.
I have not had any problems with this gun so far and I have had it for over a month. The only issue I did have with it was that before a round, when I turned it on and turned my on/off on, I would hit the trigger to fire one ball and the gun would start leaking from the bolt, breech, and frame. The gun started to shoot balls as if it was in full auto mode. Plus, since it leaked out the breech, it shot air and broken paintballs into my hopper, which got very dirty and took a long time to clean.
The only other negative experience I’ve had is with the very sharp milling. In the back, above the bolt, there are 2 points and they are extremely sharp. This almost goes for the square milled around the ram cap. The corners are sharp and if you are not careful, they can cut you. This has happened a few times to my friends, but I am careful and I have not had any cuts that bled.
If you can find this gun for a good price, you should definitely buy it. Although some places sell it for 1000, if you can not afford that, there are places that sell it for a more reasonable price. You should buy this gun because it is fast, light, accurate, easy to maintain and reliable. The reliability of this gun is outstanding. Every time you air it up, you know it is going to work and shoot great, as long as you lubed it properly. Just be careful with the milling in the back.
